ANHRD partners with Winning Magnitude of Malaysia |04 May 2016

To better ease placement of students willing to further their studies abroad, the Agency for National Human Resource Development (ANHRD) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Winning Magnitude which is trading as a Malaysia Education Centre.

The signing took place at the ANHRD conference room last Friday in the presence of the Minister for Labour and Human Resources Development Idith Alexander;  the principal secretary responsible for tertiary education Linda Barallon; the regional director for Malaysia Education Promotion Centre Haji Sushilil Azam Bin Shuib; the chief executive (CEO) of ANHRD Terrence Françoise; the managing director for Winning Magnitude Kabilan Muniandy; the managing director of the Malaysian Education Centre Muhammad Fadil and ANHRD board members.

The MoU was signed by the CEO of ANHRD Terence Françoise and the managing director of Winning Magnitude Kabilan Muniandy.

Mr Françoise said such agreement will benefit the students of Seychelles willing to further their studies in Malaysia.

“The objective of ANHRD are to advise and help in the field of human resource development in order to improve national skills and create a framework for the development of human capital through the development of organisations and the individual,” he said.

He added that many Seychellois students are currently in Malaysia to further their university studies.

“Today, we have over 550 students undertaking further studies, 39 of which are based in universities in Malaysia. This year, 18 new students are expected to proceed for tertiary training in Malaysia. The signing of the MoU comes at an opportune time. It will serve to ease the application and visa procedures of prospective students going to Malaysia,” he added.

The regional director of Malaysia Education Promotion Centre Shushilil Azam Bin Shuib pointed out that this relationship between Seychelles and Malaysia will benefit both countries.

“Our presence here indicates good relationship with the government of this country as well as introduces students of Seychelles to another destination for higher studies. We are very confident that the students of this country will be happy to discover what Malaysia has to offer in terms of education,” he said.

He added that the government of Malaysia spends a lot of money from the national budget on education.

“As per latest figures, the total budget allocation for education amounted to 10.5 billion US dollars. It is also worth mentioning that the Malaysian government’s spending on higher education is 7.7 % of total expenditure, which is one of the highest in the world,” he said.

Malaysia is an education hub where over 150,000 international students from more than 150 different countries are currently studying, including an increasing number of students from Seychelles.
