Through the mists of history … First paper currency |02 September 2016
Seychelles received its first paper currency in 1914, when under stringent circumstances occasioned by the outbreak of the First World War, an ordinance was enacted to allow RS 5 and RS 10 notes to be locally printed. Measuring 200 x 108 mm, the notes which were black print on white paper had unique serial numbers and an emboss of the colonial stamp.
