Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission calls on President Michel |05 October 2016

The chairman of the newly formed Anti-Corruption Commission Judge Duncan Gaswaga yesterday called on President James Michel at State House.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Judge Gaswaga, who was accompanied by vice-chairman Daniel Belle, said the visit was part of the commission’s guidelines and strategy which consist of getting in touch with the three different branches of government.
He added that after the first meeting with President Michel, he will meet the National Assembly and members of the Judiciary.
He described the meeting as fruitful as he said the president has been apprised of the commission’s plans and what it has in store for the people; that is combat corruption in the present generation and protect the next from the scourge.
This, he said, will be by means of the law and also through values like honesty and respect for each other.
Judge Gaswaga announced that the Anti-Corruption Commission is presently organising its office, for example through the recruitment of a chief executive (CEO).
He urged all citizens who have complaints or questions to prepare them, as they will soon have the opportunity to report to the commission.
