Gamini Herath appointed Auditor General |30 March 2017

President Danny Faure has announced the appointment of Gamini Herath as the new Auditor General, following the recommendation of the Constitutional Appointments Authority (CAA), and in consultation with the leader of the opposition Wavel Ramkalawan.
Mr Herath has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Financial Accountants of the UK, a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and a member of the Institute of Systems Audit and Control Association of the USA.
With over 27 years' experience in national auditing in Seychelles, Mr Herath has served for 12 years as deputy to the former Auditor General, the late Marc Benstrong.
Since 2014, Mr Herath has been the chairperson of the Government Audit Committee which liaises with government ministries and departments to ensure that the recommendations made in the Auditor General's reports are properly followed up.
Mr Herath's appointment will take effect tomorrow, Friday March 31, 2017.
He will receive his Instrument of Appointment from the President during a ceremony at State House at 2pm tomorrow.
