Boxing: African Championship Molle knocked out, Agnes loses |24 June 2017
No Seychelles boxer remains in contention for a medal at the ongoing African Boxing Championship taking place in Congo, Brazzaville, with Keddy Agnes losing his first fight, while Nelson Molle lost via knockout.
Agnes missed his chance to fight in the +91kg category semifinal when he was defeated by Egypt’s Uosry Rezk Mostafa Hafez. Agnes had a good fight but ultimately the judges awarded the win to the Egyptian on a 5-0 (30-27, 30-25, 30-27, 30-26 and 30-27) scoreline.
Nelson Molle, on his part, lost his 75kg quarterfinal bout against Seyi Ntsengue Dieudone of Cameroon through a first round knockout after 1 minute 27 seconds gone. He had won his first fight on a 5-0 score against Ivory Coast’s Reuben Eddy-Gael Kabran.
The other boxer who represented Seychelles at the tournament was Kitson Julie and he lost his first fight on a 0-5 score to Mabrouk Boughrara of Algeria.
