Chess: African School Individual Championship Bistoé, Pillay represent Seychelles |04 September 2017

Young chess players Angelo Bistoé and Harish Pillay represented Seychelles at the African School Individual Championship in Zimbabwe and despite not managing to come back with a medal, they will have surely gained much from the experience.

The two young chess players competed at the tournament from August 19-28 in the under-15 age category, where they were among a total of 19 players from Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana, Uganda, South Africa and Namibia. They were accompanied by coach Benjamin Hoareau.

Pillay finished the tournament with two points and his only win came against Namibian Gaoseb in the first game. He drew against fellow countryman Bistoé in the fourth game and also against Ugandan Mwanje Kevin.

On his part, Bistoé finished with 1.5 points and he failed to register a win, but got draws against Pillay and also against Mwanje Kevin of Uganda in the fifth game as well as against Zimbabwean Zambuko Munashe in the seventh game.

Players are awarded a point for a win, while they receive 0.5 points for a draw.

The Seychelles Chess Federation (SCF) would like to thank everyone who supported the two young chesslers, enabling them to gain this valuable experience.
