Boxing - Four boxers on international mission |25 January 2018
Four Seychellois boxers leave tomorrow for India to take part in the inaugural India Open International Boxing Tournament for senior men and women from January 28 to February 1 in Delhi.
The local fighters making the trip are Fabio Roselie (60kg), Edrian Volcère (64kg), Shain Boniface (69kg) and Keddy Agnes (+91kg) and they will be in action at the Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi.
They will be accompanied by coach Gerry Legras.
The cash prizes on offer are US $2,500 for a gold medal, US $1,000 for a silver and US $500 for a bronze.
Boxing Federation of India President Ajay Singh has said “it is the first time in history that India has hosted a [boxing] event of such stature, so it is certainly a huge step forward”.
