Petanque: Bernard Chang-Time Challenge Cup |01 August 2018

Ernesta, Botsoie duo win inaugural tournament

James Ernesta and Antoine Botsoie are the grand winners of the Bernard Chang-Time Challenge Cup to honour the former player and Seychelles Petanque Association (SPA) chairman who is bound to a wheelchair for the past years.

The inaugural tournament was jointly organised by the SPA and member of the Assembly for Mont Buxton Gervais Henrie who was also the main sponsor.

In the final, Ernesta and Botsoie were victorious over the team of Roland Renaud and Sheila Chang-Time (Bernard’s wife).

Affectionately known as Baba by colleagues and the petanque family, Mr Chang-Time was one of the founders of the sport locally.

A former member of the MBU and national team, alongside the likes of Roland Renaud, Ivan Anacoura, Gianni Ceccato, Auguste and Francis Louise, Baba has represented the country at various international outings, including the Mauritius international tournament, Singapore International, Championnat du Monde de Pétanque and the Indian Ocean Island Games among others.
