Entering a singing competition can be a good way to help build a child's confidence. Although the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star show is not a contest, one could feel that some of the children were nervous, but they all thrived when they performed on stage.
In fact, they performed twice last weekend – on Saturday and Sunday – inside a full house International Conference Centre and the show’s theme was ‘Lights and colours’. Parents, siblings and friends were blown away by these pint-sized pop stars who sang some hit tunes. It was just amazing to hear the strength and range of voice coming from these little stars.
“It was the best show,” Bennett Accouche said of this year’s 16th Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star show.
Creator and artistic director of the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Sir Bennett added: “These kids’ voices are so good you just can't stop listening. It is just amazing, they sing very well.”
Chosen out of the 96 candidates who auditioned for this year’s show, 15 little stars performed solo last weekend and Sir Bennet agreed that most of them have the voice to make it big on the local music charts.
The performers were Tanisha Fred (Pilye mon lavi), Grace Roucou (‘Just an illusion’), Andriella Payet (Lavi Konmela), Emily Rose (‘A million dreams’), Shaul Baron (‘I believe’), Dautria Malcouzane (‘I know who I am’), Xenia Larue (Donn li en rev), Stevee Rose (‘Count on me’), Khalisha Adrien (‘Love song’), Aurelie Payet (‘Greatest love of all’), Alea Mondon (Mes chers parents je vole), Helen Mellie (Met Bondye premye), Hendrik Van Der Westhuizen (Bel Bel comme les jours), Danielle Morel (‘Talking to the moon’) and Dolores Confiance (Soufle divan).
There were also performances by a kids’ band, the Independent School choir, Alderic Bristol (Nou De), Jessica McAlister (‘Coat of many colours’), father and son duo of Niko Hoareau and Drian Hoareau (Lakelele), Kesha Boniface (who first took part in the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star show in 2006) and the Anse Boileau school (traditional dance).
The accompanying photos taken by Michel Denousse show the little stars and guests in action.
