Couples for Christ celebrates 7 years of existence in Seychelles |03 August 2013

The Couples for Christ (CFC) movement celebrated its seven years of existence in Seychelles on July 21, 2013.

It was through different activities that the CFC marked the anniversary last weekend under the theme Obey and Witness.

The CFC is an international Catholic lay ecclesiastical movement whose goal is to renew and strengthen Christian family life and values.
It was in 2006 that Brother Gerry Tanigue, who is a Philipino, came to Seychelles and proposed to the Bishop of Port Victoria to introduce the CFC in Seychelles.

Brother Tanigue was a special guest at the activities organised last weekend to mark the anniversary.

Last Thursday he led a leaders’ teaching for about 50 leaders and on Saturday they had a whole day conference open to all members.

The conference started with worship followed by Brother Tanigue’s talk based on the theme.  Then in the afternoon they had open discussion on the ‘Answering the cry of the poor’ (ANCOP).

On Sunday, the day of the celebration itself, members of the CFC got together in a mass at the St Joseph’s Church, Anse Royale and then gathered for a feast next to the church.

Bishop Denis Wiehe were also there to celebrate together with the CFC members were they had a lunch and sang in a variety show.

The next activity that the CFC is planning is the CFC global ANCOP walk where members will show their solidarity and love for the poor.

This walk will take place on August 25, 2013.
The accompanying photos show highlights of last weekend’s activities to mark the anniversary.
