Minister Payet on official visit in Reunion |11 September 2013
The Minister for Environment and Energy, Professor Rolph Payet, is on a working visit in Reunion. Minister Payet’s visit to the French administered island is a follow-up to President James Michel’s visit there in July.
Minister Payet has also been invited to give a presentation during the international conference on sustainable tourism development of islands which is being held in Reunion from September 11-13.
The conference is being organised in collaboration with the World Tourism Organisation. Minister Payet’s presentation will focus on sustainable tourism development in Aims (Atlantic, Indian Ocean and South China Seas) countries.
Discussions are expected to be held with key stakeholders in the field of renewable energy, marine researches, landscaping and botany.
In his capacity as pro-chancellor of the University of Seychelles, Professor Payet will meet representatives of the University of Reunion where possibilities of exchanges between the two educational institutions will be explored.
Minister Payet is also expected to visit the Jardin des Mascarin and a satellite station which serves as an observation center for ocean movement.
