President congratulates Angela Merkel on re-election |25 September 2013
On behalf of the government and people of Seychelles, President James Michel has extended congratulations to Angela Merkel on her re-election to the office of German Chancellor.
President Michel stated that re-election bears testimony to the trust and confidence that the people of Germany have in the Chancellor’s vision for an improved future for Germany.
Furthermore, the President stated that under her guidance the German economy has become stronger, unemployment decreased with new jobs created.
He further stated that Germany has provided stability in Europe and around the world.
President Michel thanked Mrs Merkel for championing issues concerning Sids (small islands developing states) as well as being an active advocate in the fight against climate change.
The President reaffirmed the excellent partnership and close relationship between the two countries, which continues to grow.
“The accreditation of a new German ambassador will provide an ideal opportunity for us to find new innovative ways of expanding our dynamic partnership,” President Michel said.
