Seychelles’ beauty queen describes Indonesian experience as ‘magical’ |28 September 2013

Miss Seychelles … Another World 2013, Agnes Gerry, has described as ‘truly magical’ her experience so far in Indonesia as she prepares for the Miss World beauty pageant tonight at the Westin Resort hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali.

The past week has been very much taken up with sessions of rehearsal for the Miss World final. This year all the girls will be afforded more time on the catwalk where they will appear at least six times, which is considerably more visibility than any previous Miss World pageant. Therefore, people watching the show will hopefully see more of our own beauty queen, Ms Gerry.

One of the last big events before the final was the Miss Top Model 2013, a grand fashion show featuring Miss World contestants and which took place at the Westin Resort hotel, Nusa Dua in Bali on the evening of September 24.

The ten finalists of the Top Model contest are from the following countries – United States, Italy, France, Brazil, South Sudan, Cyprus, Cameroon, Philippines, England and Ukraine.

Agnes Gerry catwalked in a gold gown designed by one of the 50 Indonesian designers who put up the selection exclusively for this event.

At a special gathering on September 25, Agnes Gerry introduced the Seychelles delegation to her many networks and friends she had gathered throughout the Miss World contest in Indonesia while giving an account of how her experience had been so far.

"I have made lots of friends, I am much more confident on the catwalk and feel much more at ease facing bigger crowds," she explained.

The chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), Sherin Naiken, who is heading an STB delegation in Indonesia to give support to our beauty queen, said: "Having seen all the parents and sponsors who have come in numbers to support their beauty queen, it would have been remissed of us not to come in numbers as well to give our Miss Seychelles ... Another World all the support she needs."

"She has been indeed a great ambassador, carrying the flag for Seychelles," Ms Naiken said.
"A lovely girl, with a great personality and so easy to work with as one of the Miss World chaperones put it across to me!" added Ms Naiken.
