The Pillay R Group has started selling new international premium Taffy sugar brand product.

The group says the international sugar brand Taffy is a super-refined cane sugar originating from Thailand.

“This is first time customers are able to taste and enjoy Taffy – which is Thailand’s super-refined cane sugar at most unbelievably affordable prices. It is the cheapest sugar in Seychelles,” said D. V. Sharma, purchase and global sourcing manager with Pillay R Group.

“The main highlight of Taffy is that there is no fat or cholesterol. Another interesting feature is that it dissolves quickly unlike the other sugar on the market which can make you feel embarrassed in front of guests as it takes too long to dissolve. Most of the customers are looking in the market for a sugar which is fine and the one available currently contains granules which are really big,” noted Mr Sharma.

“We would like to educate our customers as to how to assess good quality sugar. Technically, sugar quality is measured in ICUMSA (International Commission for Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis) – a worldwide body which brings together the activities of the national committees for sugar analysis in more than 30 member countries,” said Mr Sharma.

“The lower the ICUMSA, the superior is the quality. Taffy sugar is about 30 ICUMSA which makes it certainly the best white christaline sugar in the world and in Seychelles.  Most of available sugar on the market is between 45 to 120 ICUMSA and therefore not as good as Taffy. We therefore feel great pride in introducing excellent quality products which is really affordable for all Seychellois.”

He added that customers will feel pride in using it in the kitchen, offices, bakery, ice cream factories, breweries, hotels, restaurants etc and it should enhance quality of finished products.
Mr Sharma added that another interesting benefit which Taffy provides is that one can use only one spoon for one cup of tea. Therefore, instead of using two packets and pay more, one can use only one packet and save substantial money.
 
“Truly value for money,” said Mr Sharma.

According to Mr Sharma, Taffy sugar is the only available sugar which is eco-friendly as well as ISO certified, and there is no sulphur making it a healthy sugar as no other available sugar has all these international features to satisfy the customers.

“Seychelles deserves best quality white sugar for excellent health of all our loved ones and Taffy certainly provides all the satisfaction which every Seychellois is looking for,” added Mr Sharma.

The product is available in 1kg sachet but the Pillay R Group is planning to bring bigger size packs as well as more varieties as per excellent feedback from its esteemed customers.
