Karting: National Championship – round 7-Delcy, Emmanuel and Liza Rene victorious |28 July 2004

Young Marc Delcy grabbed victory in the Cadet class despite a strong field including two guest drivers from England – brothers Charlie and Jasper King-Harman.

In the absence of Dimitri Maiden who is on holiday overseas, Roland Delcy was expected to dominate this class, but his younger brother Marc upstaged him by putting on a good show of consistent driving to take victory.

Charlie King-Harman finished second and Jasper was third place ahead of fourth-placed Roland Delcy.

Stephan Simon, who leads the overall standings in the Cadet class, finished in fifth and last position.

Stephan Emmanuel took another win in the Junior category to put pressure on Eddie Estrale, who, until last Sunday, had held a healthy lead over his rivals.

With only the best six results to be counted for the final ranking, Estrale, who was a distant third over the weekend, now leads the championship table by only two points ahead of 2003 Junior champion Peter Fred who finished in the runner-up berth in the last race.

Stephan Rosalie encountered some mechanical problems with his kart, but still managed to motor on to fourth place.

In the Formula A, Liza Rene took an easy victory to take the lead from her father Dave in the championship. Dave sat out Sunday's race.

Liza, who registered the fastest lap time of 27.31 seconds, was followed in second and third positions by John Simon and Andy Denousse respectively.

Meanwhile, the next round of the National Championship is scheduled for Sunday August 8. There will also be a competition for all novice drivers on Saturday August 14.
