President appoints new Estate Agents Board |20 September 2004
This is in line with Section 3(1) of the recently enacted Estate Agents (Amendment) Act, 2004.
The Board is chaired by Patrick Lablache, the principal secretary for Habitat and Development Planning in the Ministry of Land Use and Habitat (MLUH). The other members are Gerard Hoareau (MLUH), David Lebon (private sector), David Bianchi (Seychelles Investments Bureau), Fiona Laporte (Attorney General’s Office) and Livia Chetty (MLUH).
The Board is empowered to consider applications from persons wishing to practice as estate agents in Seychelles as per the criteria laid down in the Act.
It is also responsible to establish and maintain an Estate Agents Register, which should be made available at all reasonable times for inspection by members of the public, without charge.
A licence from the Seychelles Licensing Authority to practice as an Estate Agent can only be obtained once the Board is satisfied that an applicant qualifies for registration as an Estate Agent.
