Taj Hotels to manage Denis resort |06 November 2004

According to the resort, the management switch will take effect on November 15. The resort will be known as Taj Denis Island.

“We are delighted to be associated with Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces and are confident that this strategic alliance can only serve to enhance and consolidate Denis Island as a leading island resort,” said Kathy Mason, the managing director of Denis Island Development Company.

Raymond Bickson, the managing director for Indian Hotels, which represents Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, said the relationship with Denis was part of continuing efforts to expand into the region, following launches of resorts in the Maldives and Mauritius.

“We have been looking at increasing our geographical footprint and one of the key areas of focus was to expand with luxury resorts in the Indian Ocean,” said Mr Bickson.

Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces was established in 1903 and has 57 hotels in 38 locations around India, as well as 13 international hotels in the UK, Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere. The company is part of the Tata Group.
