Global Youth Service Day-Youths join hands in community work |16 April 2005
Members of different youth organisations here, namely National Youth Council (NYC), President's Award Scheme, Ship for World Youth as well as members of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) and the police force will join hands to promote voluntary action by cleaning different spots around the country.
According to Bernard Frichot, coordinator special events in the youth department, community improvement projects here which involve mostly voluntary work at North East Point Hospital, Fiennes Institute and other spots that have been identified by the different youth groups will take place today from 8.30 a.m. to 12 noon.
Global Youth Service Day, which was first celebrated here in 2004, is an annual event that celebrates, recognises and mobilises year-round contribution of young people to build their communities and their world through voluntary service.
