SBC replaces transmission tower at Fairyland-Better receptions in the area expected |30 July 2005

Work to replace SBC’s 18-metre transmission tower at its Fairyland site with a 24-metre tower starts on Monday August 1 and will be carried out in three phases.

The first phase will include the shifting of equipment from the current tower to a smaller tower, which is also in place.

This will be followed in the second phase by the dismantling of the current tower.

The third phase will include the erection of a 24m tower in the same place where the current tower is located and the installation of equipment on it.

An SBC communiqué says that once work is completed in a month’s time, the coverage of SBC TV, TV5 and FM services in the area will be greatly improved.

During the installation, however, viewers in the area will experience disruptions in both the TV and FM services.

“Once the project is completed residents of Cayol Estate, Capucin, Bougainville and Gaza Estate will notice marked improvement in the reception of both the TV and FM services,” says the communiqué.

According to the communiqué this project forms part of SBC’s ongoing programme to improve both TV and FM receptions in the country.
