Students denounce violence through poster competition-Winners rewarded |08 August 2005
The competition, held under the theme "Peace begins at home, make Seychelles a violence free country", saw the participation of students and pupils from primary and secondary schools.
A total of 90 posters entered the competition.
The winner of the secondary category was Rudolph Quatre, a student from the Independent School whereas for the primary category the first prize went to Wayne Adeline from Anse Etoile School.
The winners, second and third runners-up in each category received cash prizes and gifts.
All participants received a certificate of participation.
After the presentation, the winners together with other members of the Gem Plus Association and invited guests had the chance to view the posters which were on display in the National Library lobby.
According to the chairperson of Gem Plus, Sharon Thélemaque, the competition was launched last year as part of activities to mark the 16 Days of activism against gender violence in November.
She said that the participation was quite impressive and added that if they get sponsors the posters would be used on the association's calendars and one poster would be officially adopted by Gem Plus.
Members of Gem Plus has thanked all sponsors for contributing generously towards the activity.
