Bodybuilding: Mr Seychelles 2005-Dazzling Dogley

DOGLEY ... Mr Seychelles 2005

A superbly conditioned Dogley, participating in the competition for only the second time in his young career, blitzed the field and sent his fans wild inside the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS).

After being expertly prepared in the pump room, Dogley clearly had the edge in condition, displaying great separation and a tight hard midsection, an excellent back and good legs, good overall symmetry and crisp condition. Not to mention those amazing arms, and quite an excellent posing routine.

The top-level five-member judging panel of Yvon Mathiot, Suzy Moustache, Golbert Nicette, Cyril Payette and François Ally, found very few weaknesses in Dogley’s posing and its clear-cut decision went in his favour. He received his prize as Mr Seychelles 2005 from Mr Seychelles 2003 Fabien Antat who was ruled out by persistent lower back pain.

The 20-year-old’s next challenge is the Mr Universe contest in China in November 24 to 28, but before that Dogley, Mr Seychelles junior in 2003, has to let the recent success sink in.

Asked by Sports Nation how he felt about winning and if he would have still claimed victory had defending champion Antat competed, a shy-speaking Dogley replied:

“It was quite tough a competition. I could have taken part in the junior competition too, but I chose not to so as to concentrate on winning the prestigious Mr Seychelles title.
I can’t say that I was going to beat Fabien (Antat) but I came well prepared. I’m happy I’ve achieved my goal. All this goes down to some hard training with my trainer Regis Delorié. I thank him for all he’s done for me.”

As prize, Dogley, who came out first in the 85-kg division to make the seven-competitor grand final, won R1,000 and a medal.

Runner-up to Dogley was Nano Camille (90-kg) and third place went to Delorié (+90-kg). They received R700 and R500 respectively.

The remaining four places were occupied by Jacques-Alain Hoareau (70-kg, fourth), Jim Clarisse (80-kg, fifth), Jacques Medor (75-kg, sixth) and MacFarlene Renaud (65-kg, seventh). They each won R300.

The other competitors were Andrew Siméon (70-kg), Jean-Claude Juliette, Eddie Racombo (80-kg), Antoine Rachel, Joelen Valentin and Pierre Servina (85-kg). They each got R100.

The Mr Seychelles Junior title went to Joshua Camille and he told Sports Nation that he was happy with the title but not with his physique.

CAMILLE ... winner of the junior Mr Seychelles title

“It’s disappointing that I competed unchallenged in the Junior category. I expected other junior bodybuilders to participate,” said Camille.

The Masters category was won by evergreen 55-year-old Rene Youpa, the first recipient of the Mr Seychelles title in 1974. He had no opponent and thus won automatically.

As usual, the bodybuilders had to do the seven compulsory poses, those being front double biceps, front lat spread, side chest, back double biceps, back lat spread, triceps and abdominal and thighs. They then performed the free-posing with a piece of music of their choice.

The Mr Seychelles contest was the second and last competition organised by the Seychelles Amateur Bodybuilding Association (Sabba) this year. The other competition it organised is the Night of a Champion.

The first competition - Open Bodybuilding Championship – was cancelled.
