Subios Treasure Hunt-Teddy Esther goes home with $1000 treasure

Mr Esther was presented with his prize by Rod Thorrington, the director of Kenwyn House, the sponsor of the prize.

The ceremony which took place at Kenwyn House, Francis Rachel Street was attended by Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Maurice Loustau-Lalanne as well as organisers of the treasure hunt.

The treasure hunt, which was organised by STB and Kenwyn House was part of the activities to commemorate Subios 2006.

Mr Esther who was very happy to receive his prize, said that he will keep the treasure as souvenir of the event, adding that the prize was worth all the hard work he had to endure to come up with the right answers for the clues.

Members of the public had to find answers to seven clues which appeared in the Seychelles Nation for everyday of Subios and those clues had to be arranged in a grid which appeared in the Saturday March 4 edition of Seychelles Nation. Once the participant had filled out the grid from the clues, the shaded letters spelled out a name and that name led the treasure hunter to the treasure.

Stating that he already had some knowledge about Seychelles history, Mr Esther said that he did not hesitate to give the competition a try.

‘Since I already knew the answer to the first clue then I was motivated to continue to find the rest of the answers even though it was not an easy task,’ Mr Esther explained, before adding that finding the answer (diamond) to the last clue was even more difficult.

CEO Loustau-Lalanne thanked all the participants that had participated in the treasure hunt and there were words of thanks for the sponsor for giving away the beautiful prize.

He also congratulated Mr Esther for his hard and difficult task to find the treasure before adding that the hunt winner will be on the calendar of activities for Subios 2007.

Mr Loustau-Lalanne also revealed STB’s plan to add more value to the treasure site at Belombre thus giving an additional historical sites to visitors.
