Miray Zeriko-fame singer on stage Thursday April 13 |13 April 2006
Mrs Payet is expected to be one of the worship leaders during a crusade that the Redeemed Christian Church of God plans to hold from 4.30 p.m. Thursday, and Friday starting at 3.00 p.m. at the English River Community Centre, and at the Seychelles Marketing Board (SMB) hall on Saturday from 3.00 p.m. and at the same hall at Roche Caiman on Sunday from 8.30 a.m.
The meetings will be addressed by a South African lady evangelist by the name of Tosin Macauly.
Speaking to Nation Wednesday April 12, she said that the theme of the song is taken from the Bible’s book of Joshua from chapter 5:13 to 6:21, which describes how David defeated Goliath and talks about the crushing down of walls, symbolising how a person can overcome obstacles in his or her life with God’s help.
“The song was inspired by many problems I was going through in my earlier life, which only God could have, and did take me out of,” the born-again Christian said, adding that Miray Zeriko is available as a single on CD which she is selling at R45, and contains a five-minute part with encouragement explaining the origins of the song.
"As children of God, we must not fail to use the authority we have been granted by God,” she said.
Mrs Payet takes no credit for the work, and although she thanks her parents, work colleagues, husband, Danny, the song’s Kenyan producer and fellow Redeemed Christian Church of God members, she says that only by the power of God did the song, that was recorded in east Africa, came out so strongly.
“This is only the beginning. By the grace of God, the single will soon be followed by an album that will feature me and the producer,” she said, adding that stocks of the CDs are already low, and that she will advise members of the public when supplies are replenished.
Christians who know the humble, jocular and cheerful environment inspector say that once she gets on the stage “the power of the Holy Spirit seems to transform her into some form of superstar for the Creator.”
She said that after she was featured on FM radio on Tuesday, she received a flood of text messages and calls of congratulations, and thanked all those who have supported her new work.
