Mexican actresses leave lasting impression on Seychellois fans

Paloma and Barbara at the SMB cocktail

On the eve of their departure the two actresses – Sylvia Navarro and Anette Michel (who star as Paloma and Barbara respectively in the telenovela) – were hosted to a farewell cocktail reception by the drama serial’s local sponsor, the Seychelles Marketing Board (SMB).

The farewell cocktail was held at the Fisherman’s Cove Hotel at Bel Ombre where members of the SMB family got the chance to meet and talk with the two actresses and have their photos taken with them.

The staff selected to attend the reception were in fact SMB’s best performers for last year, who were offered this wonderful opportunity as part of the company’s Labour Day celebrations.

‘Paloma’ and ‘Barbara’ expressed happiness and their heartfelt gratitude to SMB who has made it possible, through its sponsorship, for Seychellois telenovela fans to view Cuando Seas Mia.

The 96-episode telenovela with a total running time of 144 hours is being aired twice weekly (Thursday and Sunday) on the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) since early last year.

The management of the SBC also took the opportunity during the cocktail to thank SMB for its sponsorship.

SMB, which has invested some R375,000 in the sponsorship of the serial Cuando Seas Mia, has in fact taken the lead over the last decade in sponsoring a number of telenovelas aired on SBC.

Judging from the overwhelming welcome the two actresses received from the public during their stay in Seychelles and the popularity of all the telenovelas aired on SBC,  Amitesh Banerjee, the company’s communications manager, said SMB has found the telenovelas to be an excellent medium to promote and advertise its products and corporate image.

The Seychelles visit of ‘Paloma’ and ‘Barbara’ was part of a tour of several countries in Africa where the telenovela is being aired.

During their stay in Seychelles, the two actresses met with fans, visited Praslin and La Digue and was the centre of attraction in a musical concert hosted especially for them at the Stad Lanmizik on Saturday night.
