The beer, said to have been tailored for special moments of celebration, was launched on Friday during a reception held at O'Brien House, Le Rocher, where a group of non-SBL employees had the privilege of being among the first to taste this new beverage.

Prior to that, the beer was launched before the staff of the brewery.

Celebration Special is a red coloured beer sold in a 300 ml pack size. It has been brewed with special ingredients, has a mellow flavour and comes in a unique packaging.

Its alcohol content is 6%.

The beer is available in most retail shops on Mahe since Friday at a retail price of R10.00 a bottle, excluding the R2 deposit. It will be available in all shops on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue as of today.

Celebration Special can also be purchased from SBL distributors at the wholesale price of R217 a crate, excluding the R2 bottle and R20 crate deposit.

Celebration Special is a seasonal beer and will be on sale during a limited period of time.

SBL said that Celebration Special has been especially brewed and bottled locally by a team of Seychellois employees, "who have put their heart and soul into producing a beer which appeals to their taste buds and the big celebration ahead."

The company has also explained that Celebration Special might remind consumers of Celebration Brew, a beer which was launched in 1997, to mark SBL's 25th anniversary.

"Celebration Special is an improved version of Celebration Brew; it tastes differently, is slightly stronger in alcohol and it looks slightly different in colour," according to SBL.

It said that consumers had also contributed to the production of the beer as it was the tasting panel made up of consumers who had a final say in the taste of the beer.

Since it started producing beer in June 1972 and was a witness to the country's independence from Britain on June 29, 1976, SBL said that it is therefore fitting that it comes out with a special brew for this memorable occasion.
