Special Saturday Bazar Labrin scheduled for next weekend |19 August 2006
Especially as some tourists sometimes miss the mid-week bazaar during their stay, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) is potentially making the Saturday bazaar a monthly event, to be held on the last Saturday of every month, with the first one slated for August 26, one week from today. The bazaar will take place at the usual time and place – along the Regatta grounds at Beau Vallon from 4:30 p.m. to about 9 p.m.
“The Saturday version of Bazar Labrin will just be a trial next Saturday, but if the turnout is good it will be continued on a monthly basis,” said an STB spokesperson.
Meanwhile the traditional Bazar Labrin will continue with its normal weekly schedule every Wednesday evening.
“The aim of Bazar Labrin is to create a vibrant social forum where local vendors, artists and artisans can interact with tourists seeking a genuine cultural ambience in which to purchase local produce, beverages, delicacies and souvenirs in a relaxed atmosphere with traditional entertainment,” according to STB. “To expand it to another day, if for only one day out of every month, will hopefully allow more people to enjoy this experience.”
