After local unveiling, new tourism brand set for March international launch

The December 15, 2006 unveiling of Seychelles' new tourism brandWith its colourful new logo and the slogan “Another World,” the new brand will be reflected across a number of new materials for the March launch, including all new consumer brochures, posters, press advertisements and window displays, among others.

Prior to the international launch, other materials, such as a complete branding reference guide, will be released to local partners within the tourism industry, to assist operators in using the new brand to their advantage in the months ahead.

“We didn’t want the new look to be a mystery among the trade before the international launch,” said Nick Watson, STB’s coordinator for PR & Communication. “In a lot of ways, the brand image is simply a tool that should make it easier for the industry to sell their product or service.

Hopefully, by the time March rolls around, everyone on the Seychelles stand at ITB will have a good sense of the new brand.”

STB has indicated that in the weeks preceding the international launch, the Seychellois public at large will also get a chance to see how the country will be marketed as a tourism destination, with previews of the new imagery in a variety of places.

“Locally, the new brand image is going to be increasingly visible leading up to and after the international launch,” said Mr Watson. “There are a range of different initiatives planned that we think the public will really enjoy.”

The new brand represents a colourful new direction for the marketing of Seychelles to potential travellers, by showcasing the natural beauty, diversity and activities the country has to offer, in addition to the famous beaches that are the hallmark of Seychelles.

The logo is a composite of the entire spectrum of the Seychelles experience, from the blues and turquoises of the sea, to white sand beaches and lush green foliage, as well as the vibrancy of the Creole culture and the islands’ unique flora and fauna. The shape of the logo is also representative of important Seychelles icons, from palm trees and flowers to endemic birds like the Paradise Flycatcher and the Tropicbird.

The new slogan conveys the rarity and uniqueness of Seychelles as the only mid-ocean granitic islands in the world, with an array of endemic species found nowhere else on earth.

In addition to the new logo and slogan, the new brand concept features full-colour photography in some of Seychelles’ rarest and most unique locations, depicting why Seychelles really is “another world.”
