Commonwealth Quiz Competition-Beau Vallon, Anse Boileau, SALS winners |17 March 2007
The final of the competition took place earlier this week at the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) studio at Hermitage.
The competition was divided into three categories: primary, secondary and post- secondary.
The winners in the primary school category were the trio of Gowry Mohan, Francis Adrienne and Amy Mustard from Beau Vallon.
The team of Isuru Walpola, Ashley Lesperance and Anil Arnephy-Ladouce from Anse Boileau were the grand winners in the secondary school category.
The trio of Laura Gayon, Angelique Pouponneau and Hajiira Jumaye from SALS were the winning team in the post-secondary institution category.
The main sponsors of the quiz were Airtel and the British High Commission.
The Primary level winners went home with Airtel starter packs including recharge cards valued at SR100, Commonwealth Quiz T-shirts, books and other goodies. The runners up received dictionaries.
At Secondary level the grand winners were given starter packs including SR200 recharge cards, Commonwealth Quiz T-shirts, books and other goodies whereas the runners up took home educational books.
The post secondary students also received starter packs with SR200 recharge cards, Commonwealth Quiz T-shirts and books. The runners up on the other hand received educational books.
All schools that reached the finals received books from the British High Commission.
All prizes were presented by Beverly Parmantier of Airtel and Amy Bowers from the British High Commission.
This year all the various teams at the three different levels had a set of questions to answer to determine the teams that will be in the finals. The teams with the highest number of correct answers were chosen.
This activity is organized each year to commemorate Commonwealth Day, which is celebrated on the second Monday of March.
