Seventeen new registered nurses for MoH |29 March 2007
These new nurses were part of the group of National Institute of Health and Social Studies (NIHSS) students who recently graduated after completing their studies at the institution last year.
Speaking on behalf of the Nurses and Midwives Council, the president of the Nurses Association of Seychelles (Nars), Inese Freminot, reminded the newly registered nurses that they are accountable for their actions and omissions and told them to bear in mind that the public puts great trust and confidence in them.
“Please always do your utmost to act in a way that will justify this high expectation,” she said.
She urged the young nurses to keep developing their professional knowledge and competence by taking part in regular teaching and learning activities that are made available.
“Research findings must be made use of to ensure that the most up to date, safe and effective practice is carried out,” she added.
The new nurses received their certificates from Helene Nicette, director general for Community Health.
On behalf of all the newly registered nurses, Veronique Maillet delivered a vote of thanks in which she said that they will continue to uplift the image of nursing practice within the regulatory boundaries set by the Seychelles Nurses and Midwives Council.
Attending the ceremony were members of the Nurses and Midwives Council, other senior nurses, invited guests and the certificate recipients themselves.
