Former top Poly student sworn in as State Counsel

Miss Micock taking her oath before CJ AlleearThis time around she has achieved what most student lawyers challenge themselves to attain while pursuing their Law Degree -- a second class first division result, which according to Attorney General Anthony Fernando is one of the best results one can hope for in the field.

Miss Micock achieved the result at the end of her four-year studies for a degree in Law and International Relations at the University of Sussex, England.

This came to light late last week while she was being sworn in as State Counsel before Chief Justice Vivekanand Alleear at the Court House in Victoria.

Both the Chief Justice and the Attorney General were quick to acknowledge her Miss Micockaccomplishment, citing that her brilliant academic and track record could only be an additional asset to the Attorney General’s Office and the Court House.

The modest Miss Micock for her part laid out her achievement to sheer devotion and perseverance, and the support of both her parents, in particular her father Eddie Micock, who sponsored her for her vocational bar exam at the Inn of School of Law, London, during the last year of her studies.

In fact, Mrs Micock was present to share her daughter’s delight at the swearing-in ceremony, which took place in one of the court rooms at the Court House.

Counsel Micock also revealed that her elder sister, Victoria Micock, a practicing medical examiner in Australia, had been her inspiration during her studies.
