Big Blue Divers join with creche students for clean-up campaign

The second-year creche students made their way from Mare Anglaise up to the Bazar Labrin area, collecting upwards of three large sacks of litter over the span of more than an hour.

They also had the opportunity to meet the Minister responsible for Environment Joel Morgan and other representatives from the Department of Environment and received praise for their hard work.

“When Big Blue Divers was approached by the Seychelles Tourism Board (to take part in the campaign), I thought it would be a good idea to include the young children in such an activity,” said Elizabeth Fideria of Big Blue Divers. “These little children are our future generations and future leaders so we have to start teaching them very early.”

She also added that such initiatives can help children to educate and influence the actions of their parents toward properly disposing of waste and keeping the country clean.

Each child was given a certificate of participation and a small box of crayons from Big Blue Divers, and they were afterward treated to a boat trip around Beau Vallon Bay organised by the dive operator.

A number of other tourism-oriented establishments and businesses also organised their own clean-up initiatives for this year’s campaign, including the Seychelles Tourism Board itself, whose staff cleaned the grounds of their Bel Ombre office and also planted a number of trees.
