NAC enters joint ventures with artistes

NAC’s chief executive officer, Emmanuel D’Offay, said this on Friday when he formally acknowledged the work of Konrad Braun, who has transformed NAC offices’ reception.

“People expect us to dish out money, but we want to work with artists because we are running more like a business where we can enter into a partnership with artists, who for example, may have a project for something that is of good market value, which we can finance and then split the profit on a 50:50 basis,” he said, adding that NAC is already looking at a number of proposals.

Mr Braun, who runs Studio Paint and Design company, told Nation that when he walked into the NAC offices he discovered that the walls were plain.

“So I decided to paint them to match the kind of walls you see in Seychelles. I also did the ceiling,” he said, pointing at walls that look as if they are now made of bricks, blocks and granite rock.

The artist did the work free charge, a contribution that Mr D’Offay said NAC greatly appreciated.
