Mr Vos will be accompanied by Hassan Ahdab, regional vice-president and regional director of operations in Africa and the Indian Ocean for the same company. Starwood is the parent company of both hotels.
On Thursday July 3, the two delegates will be accompanied by the general managers of Le Méridien Barbarons and Le Méridien Fisherman’s Cove, Pierre Delplace and Olivier Francais, to visit President James Michel.
A detailed programme for Mr Vos and Mr Adhab has already been drawn up for visits and island sightseeing for the rest of their stay. Both Mr Vos and Mr Ahdab will be able to take part in Le Meridien Barbarons’ associates get-together on Friday July 4.
Starwood has been selected to manage a Luxury Collection property at Anse à la Mouche, which is due to open in 2010, and the aim of the visit by Mr Vos is to see the current operations of Le Méridien and to look into future developments of Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Seychelles and the Indian Ocean in general.
Mr Vos’s role involves directly overseeing the group’s operations, including sales and marketing for 110 hotels and resorts in 21 countries in Europe and Israel. He was appointed to this position in January 2000 and is based at the company’s Europe divisional office in Brussels, Belgium.
Before this appointment he served as senior vice-president, area director Italy and Malta, a position he held from 1998 to 1999.
Mr Vos joined Starwood Hotels and Resorts in 1982 as a management trainee at the Sheraton Brussels Hotel and Towers and held a number of positions including conventions manager at the same hotel, food and beverage director at the Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel and Towers in Mexico City, executive assistant manager at the Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel and hotel manager at the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel and Towers, before he was appointed general manager of the Sheraton Algarve in Portugal in 1993.
