Bodybuilding: Mr Seychelles contest-Favourites Camille and Gabriel ready for flex show

We’ve seen other flex shows before and we look forward to a new and better one tomorrow night!

The contest – slated for tomorrow night, starting at 8pm at the International Conference Centre – will be watched by Egyptian Adel Fahim El Sayed.

President of the Egyptian Bodybuilding Federation and International Federation of Bodybuilding vice-president for Africa, Dr Adel Fahim is expected here today.

In the absence of defending champion Dogley (left) Gabriel (centre) and Camille are the favourites for the Mr Seychelles title

Neither Camille nor Gabriel has never won the title, but the former has come close many times – in fact he has finished as runner-up for the last three years.

Could 2008 be his lucky year? He will have to win the judges’ attention while on the stage to succeed Dogley.

Two-time Mr Seychelles Dogley will miss the opportunity to defend his title and try for a third win after claiming the crown for the first time in 2005.

As for former swimmer Antat, he is a three-time Mr Seychelles with wins in 2000, 2003 and 2006.

The two flex posers had challenged each other all the way in the first Praslin Grand Prix in June, prompting bodybuilding fans to believe they would battle again for the Mr Seychelles title. Victory went to Dogley in the Praslin Grand Prix, while Antat settled for second place and also won the best poser prize.

Camille and Gabriel know their main challenge for the prestigious title will come from Antoine Rachel and Nelson Jean as well as veterans Joelen Valentin and Pierre Servina.

Servina and Valentin finished on the medals podium in the recent Mr Africa 2008 at Le Domaine les Pailles in Mauritius.

Servina, 43, won a silver medal in the masters 90-kg category but finished fourth in the open class.

The country’s first Mr Indian Ocean title winner in 1994, Valentin, who at 49 years old is also a multiple winner of the prestigious Mr Seychelles title, was ranked second in the open category for the silver medal and finished third in the 80-kg division.

The other bodybuilders who are to compete in the open competition tomorrow night are Hansel Sophola, Lynell Hoareau, Lenny Henriette, Trevor Luc, Jim Clarisse, Terrence Cadeau, Cyril Rabat, Roland Nioze, Jackie Stravens, Fernando Jeannevol and Rodney Henriette.
