Linda William heads new welfare agency |31 October 2008
The agency was set up earlier this month after the National Assembly approved the necessary legislation, which replaces the Means Testing Act.
The new agency will allow government to continue helping, in a speedier and more efficient way, Seychellois who really cannot meet their basic needs. They are also known as the vulnerable section of the population.
Ms William was previously director of social services in the Ministry of Health and Social Development.
The functions of the social welfare agency will be overseen by a board, the composition of which will be announced later.
