Seychelles – Sovereign Military Order of Malta-DVD treat for Seychellois children |11 November 2008
This has been made possible after the Ministry of Community Development, Youth, Sports and Culture received a batch of 130 DVDs from the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Chargée d’affaires at the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Seychelles Alexandra Azais handed over the DVDs to director general for community development Dan Frichot and Raymonde Camille of the President’s Village during a ceremony last week at Oceangate House.
Part of the donation will be used by the Community Development Department to carry out the Neighbourhood Recreational Activities (NRA) programme at district level while the rest will go to the President’s Village.
Mrs Azais described the event as another step in the continuous and fruitful cooperation between the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and Seychelles.
She said apart from being a diplomat, she is also a grandmother who spends hours watching cartoons with her grandchildren and knows the pleasure and happiness the gift will bring to Seychellois children.
She thanked Italian magazine Panorama, which sponsored the DVDs, the Seychelles’ government for its support, Air Seychelles for free transport and also her son for making the arrangements.
Accepting the gift, Mr Frichot said it will boost the NRA programme which targets children aged 5-15. He added that it comes at an opportune time as the Christmas holiday is approaching.
He also looked forward to continuing cooperation, which he said benefits local children.
