Jacky and Champcy Accouche back together |14 March 2009
Entitled Lape, the 11-track album came on to the market earlier this week by popular demand, according to Jacky.
He said Accouche, once a household name in local music, still has many loyal fans.
And in keeping with the old compositions so passionately promoted by him recently, the album relives some of the best moments of his career as a vocalist, blended with a touch of today’s new sounds.
Seven of the tracks are popular tunes sung by the Praslinois at some point in his colourful career, while the other four songs are in effect new, even though composed during the era when Accouche was a national favourite.
Songs on the album that will surely revive pleasant memories include Si Mon Manman Ti La, Talonnen Par Mon Bon Dalon, and title track Lape.
Among the new songs, Ero – which tells the tale of a ferry that sank in the 70s – should interest folk who used it at the time, said Jacky.
The CD is being released at a difficult period for the music industry when sales have dropped sharply but producing costs have risen, he added.
He is, therefore, urging the public to act sensibly in support of the industry and to avoid distributing copies.
Jacky said he plans to release more albums with the country’s veteran singers this year, though this will depend on CD sales picking up in the coming months.
