Tourism academy launches marketing video |10 October 2009
A copy of the video was presented recently to the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) by the Seychelles Tourism Academy’s (STA) principal Flavien Joubert.
And tourism marketing director Alain St Ange accepted it on behalf of the STB at its Bel Ombre headquarters.
Members of the press also got the chance to watch the video entitled: STA, your passport into the tourism industry.
Mr St Ange said President James Michel proposed the project two years ago, and the STA took the initiative to produce it with the help of the Freelens Productions company.
He said the President wanted to give young people the motivation to join the academy and the tourism industry. All training institutions and secondary schools around the country will get a copy of the video so as to encourage more young Seychellois to become involved in tourism.
“Today we have a new tool to entice as many people as possible to come and join the trade,” said Mr St Ange.
Unless more Seychellois get involved, we will not benefit as much as we could from the industry in terms of improving our economy, he added.
He said the President’s call for such a project was a good one as we need young people at different levels in the industry, and he congratulated all those who helped to make the video.
“The video will help to motivate young people, and we need the tourism academy and the STB to work behind this new tool to make it more effective,” said Mr St Ange.
He said the STB is empowering young people by placing them abroad to get more experience and training so they can come back and join the hotel industry as marketing and sales managers.
The video showcased the courses on offer at the STA and the various opportunities that are open after training.
The launch was held one day after World Tourism Day, which was celebrated on Sunday September 27.
