New supermarket opens at Pointe Larue |06 November 2009
Kannus supermarket, which is opposite the Island Conservation Society office, was officially opened on October 9.
It is under the management of the Kannus group and one of its directors, Kannan Pillay, said the aim is to give an improved service with better prices on all its products.
His company has been doing wholesale business for a long time in Seychelles, distributing popular brands such as Tiffany, Bakers and a variety of milk, he added.
The company has lately been promoting Pearl milk, which is becoming a popular choice among consumers.
The shop is open on Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 7pm and on Sunday and public holidays from 8.30am to 1pm.
Mr Pillay said the supermarket has been successful since its opening and thanked all its customers, local wholesalers and suppliers such as the Kannus group, farmers and the Seychelles Trading Company.
He said the company is aiming to create a chain of similar supermarkets in other districts to offer the same service and give consumers the chance to have quality products at better prices.
The Kannus supermarket sells a variety of local products such as bread, fruit, vegetables and meat.
Mr Pillay said as from December, fruit and vegetables will be imported to give consumers more choice.
Other well-known products available at the supermarket are Arnotts biscuits from Australia, Cussons baby range and a variety of baby diapers, Tulip luncheon meat, Koo canned fruits and Beef-x corned meat. There is also a variety of sauces, washing powders and frozen items.
