Basketball: Top of the table tournament-Baya break Cobras’ heart |28 November 2009

After trailing for long spells in Thursday’s semifinal, which started almost an hour late at the Palais des Sports, Baya broke Premium Cobras’ hearts with a 77-73 victory to meet league champions PLS Hawks in the decider.

‘JP’ finished with 18 points, including two treys, playmaker Giovanni Laval got a team-high 21 among those three shots from downtown, and Dave Roseline, who fouled out along with teammate Timmy Adam, finished with 13 for Baya, who trailed by six – 33-39 – at the break.

Outscored 34-44 in the second period, Cobras got a game-leading 31 points from Nigerian Alao Solomon, 22 from James Beier and 15, including four treys, from Darren Lesperance.

PLS Hawks reached the century mark as they bulldozed Angels 109-53 in Tuesday’s first semifinal encounter.
