Sesel Sa – a new clarion call for Seychelles |19 December 2009
Alain St Ange, the STB’s director of tourism marketing, said this is simply a symbol of what it is to be Seychellois, calling out to the people to appreciate their heritage and culture, the uniqueness of Seychelles and of being Seychellois.
The tourism board believes Sesel sa complements the brand The Seychelles Islands…another world by adding a very individual dimension to it as a national celebration of pride in Seychelles and all things Seychellois.
The uniqueness of our islands, our spectacular white sandy beaches and our turquoise blue seas remain some of our unique selling points and we often say to those looking at pictures of our islands that this is Seychelles.
“The Creole words Sesel sa do exactly that, but with a touch of national pride,” said Mr St Ange.
Creole is one of our three official languages and it was overdue for the Seychelles tourism industry to start using it, he added.
Many countries use their own language when selling their attractions, and Seychelles tourism has now sounded its own clarion call to bring out the pride of our people every time we excel as a country or every time we take note of its natural beauty.
