Baldwin finishes second in TriStar 111 Monaco Triathlon |08 September 2010

Baldwin’s total time including transitions was 4 hours 33 minutes 23 seconds (4h33:23) after clocking 15:20 in the 1km swim, 3h32:00 in the 100km cycling and 40:29 in the 10km run.

His overall time also saw him finish 81st out of 667 contestants, including professionals and relay teams.

Baldwin said the 1km swim was a mass start, with all athletes starting from the beach to complete the distance.

The bike course was an extremely hilly and technical 100km loop, which took athletes around Monaco and the south of France, while the 10km run comprised two loops around Monaco, with athletes going through the famous Formula 1 tunnel and around the marina.

This exclusive event finished outside the Cafe de Paris next to the Monte Carlo Casino.

“This was an extremely challenging course, which was a real test of skill as well as endurance,” said Baldwin.

“Getting another age-group podium is a very pleasing result ahead of my next race – the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii on October 9,” he said, adding that “the race in Hawaii will be the most competitive I have ever raced in, with triathlon’s best professional and amateur athletes present”.
