Low-cost prepaid opens internet access |19 November 2010
The company has launched a day-long R50 card and a week-long R250 card, to let potential web users who do not want to sign up for a monthly subscription benefit from the same high-quality internet service.
“Affordability is a key concern for Kokonet across our product range,” said Kokonet’s sales and marketing manager Romano Laurence.
“We know that some people don’t want to be tied to the commitment of making a monthly payment, but we don’t believe that this should exclude them from getting online.”
The prepaid cards allow users to log on to Kokonet’s range of Kokozone wireless internet hotspots found across Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.
And in line with the company’s policy of unlimited downloads, prepaid card users can log on and download or upload as much as they like, without incurring any additional fees.
Kokozone prepaid cards and more information about the Kokozone network are available from the Kokonet office in the Pirates Arms Arcade, or by calling 6474747.

Hotspot growth brings homes online
The nationwide network of Kokozone wireless hotspots is continuing to grow as Eden Island, the Roche Caïman housing estate and the Sacos apartments become the latest areas to join.
The broadband wireless network is already well established in key areas of Seychelles, such as Victoria, the airports, ports and major hotels, and the Kokonet technicians responsible for building the network have now turned their attention to highly concentrated residential areas.
“The first Kokozone hotspots were put in place to let laptop users in key locations quickly get online. Now we want to offer the same high-speed service and flexibility to home users, by targeting residential areas for the growth of our network,” said Colin Bastienne, Kokonet’s technical manager.
“The internet is all about convenience, and we want to make our service reflect this. Our goal is to ensure internet access wherever and whenever it’s needed. With the hotspot service, the customer needs no new equipment, just a laptop and login details.”
With the service available either prepaid or on monthly subscription, Kokozone users in the residential hotspots can log on at home and take their laptops or web-enabled mobile phones when on the move, so they can get back online in any of the other Kokozone hotspots on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.
