Capt Roucou writes book on ordeal at hands of Somali pirates |12 February 2011
The book, now being edited prior to publication, is a harrowing account of how the vessel was seized on its way to Mahe after dropping a party of tourists at Assumption.
It is also a gripping story of the terrible conditions they endured in captivity.
Every day was a new ordeal as the men were often threatened with death.
It is also an account of how negotiations for their release were conducted and how often their hopes for freedom were dashed as the pirates always changed their minds and deviously upped the stakes.
The book is also a reflection of brave men whose sole weapon was their unshaken belief in God.
This faith, Capt Roucou feels, was rewarded when on June 23, 2009 they at last landed at Seychelles International Airport, to the tearful embrace and hugs of family members.
Capt Roucou hopes to have the book printed for release in June, which will also mark the second anniversary of their freedom.
