Seychellois chef brings Creole sauces to UK

Acclaimed Seychellois chef Ronnie with his homemade Creole saucesThe chef, who was recently featured on the Master Chef TV show, has come up with a winning product that blends Indian, Asian, African and French flavours.

He said he was inspired in this personal project by his grandmother and the beautiful country of his birth.

He has perfectly captured the taste of adventure and exoticism of the Seychelles islands in four distinctive flavours – green Creole curry sauce, yellow Creole curry sauce, red Creole curry sauce and sweet and spicy Creole sauce.

The fusion has clearly impressed customers, and Mark Grant, senior buying manager at West Midlands Tesco, said there’s nothing quite like Ronnie’s recipes.

“They are unique in the cooking sauce market and are something new for adventurous food lovers in the West Midlands to try,” he said.

“We are excited about the future of Island Cuisine and look forward to hearing what people in the area think about them.”

Ronnie was taught to cook by his grandmother when he was 10, making delicious dishes like octopus and clam curry with fresh coconut milk, grilled lobster and prawns with sweet and sour sauce.

In 2001 he decided to leave Seychelles and come to the UK to fulfil one of his grandmother’s dreams – to share Creole cuisine with the rest of the world.

He said: “My grandmother inspired me to cook and now I want to inspire the West Midlands to be more adventurous in its cooking!

“My sauces are made using age-old recipes and quality ingredients – but the best thing is they are so easy to use! You can impress your family and friends with a Seychellois feast in no time at all.”

The sauces will cost £1.99 (R38) each and are perfect for dipping or adding to chicken or pork for a tasty meal.
