Bharti Airtel company revenue up by over 50% |16 May 2011

The company’s financial records show a growth momentum, which has been sustained across the countries in Asia and Africa it operates in, with a customer base of around 221 million.

With a total revenue of $3643 million, revenues for the African region, which includes Seychelles, was $924 million.
According to the company’s reports, highlights of the year included “successful African acquisition and integration of operations” and successful launch of the new Airtel brands across 19 countries.

The managing director of Bharti Airtel limited, Sunil Bharti Mittal, said the company showed a strong performance during the past business year.

“The new Airtel brand has been a tremendous success in all our 19 countries,” he said.

“In India, we have been focusing on building a robust 3G network to meet the increasing data needs of a young population and in Africa we are rapidly expanding our network coverage, improving distribution width and increasing our efficiency and productivity standards.”

The company offers mobile voice and data services, high-speed broadband internet, telecom solutions for enterprises and national and international long distance services to carriers.

Bharti Airtel boasts being ranked among the six best performing technology companies in the world by Business Week and with reportedly over 220 million customers at the end of March 2011. 

On the local scene, over the past months Airtel has come out with innovative products especially for the prepaid market, such as International Direct Dial calling packs, R333 Voucher and the Zanmi package on promotion since April.

However, the company said their most appreciated offer available now is the bundled Nokia 1280 phone which has been selling by thousands every month since its release in December 2010.

The new Samsung E1080 is now enriching this offer since early May.
Airtel has also provided new 3G USB dongles for postpaid customers enabling them to benefit from the high speed of its 3G network and has also invested in getting in high end phones such as the iPhone 4, the Samsung Galaxy and the BlackBerry Torch which has been a hit with Seychellois customers, as well as Samsung Netbooks.

Over the years, Airtel has offered all its clients the best network experience in Seychelles by far at the most affordable rates.

A company representative said they will continue their investment efforts to keep on improving quality of service.
