STB launches school photo competition on tourism anniversary |05 July 2011
The competition is being held under the theme ‘Pictures of Seychelles...to make you dream’ and is open strictly to schools, in the age group of 12 to 16 years.
The organiser of the competition is looking for photos that capture the extraordinary beauty of Seychelles, its panoramas, flora & fauna and of people going about their daily lives but with a special ‘twist’.
The photos of the country and its many attributes must ‘tell a story’ and be powerful enough to appear as posters or images in Seychelles’ tourism brochures.
The winner will take home R10,000 as star prize and the winning photo must successfully impress the jury and meets all criteria of the competition.
Interested participants are required to collect and return registration forms at any of the Seychelles Tourism Board tourist offices in Victoria, on Praslin or La Digue.
The deadline for submission of photos and forms is Monday August 1, 2011.
The criteria of the competition are as follows:
• Photos can be in colour or in black and white
• Up to 2 photos may be submitted by each individual participant
• Photos must be the individual work of the named participant and must not have been previously published
• All photos should be accompanied by a short description of no more than 25 words.
The Seychelles Tourism Board has received sponsorship for the prize for this photo competition from Jimmy Butt, its Zambia-based tourism ambassador.
“We needed to find a new way to get our younger generation to start thinking tourism and what they see as pictures that will help in the promotion of our country,” said Alain St Ange, chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, when he launched the competition on Monday July 4.
