8th Indian Ocean Island Games-Partners set record as Games near

With only three days left before the Games, Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vincent Meriton accepted a total of R541,202.00 and US $2,000 during a ceremony at the International Conference Centre in Victoria.

The new partners are Chandlers Trading (R200,000), Retailers’ Association (R152,702.00), G.S. Pillay and Company (R25,000), MPS Supermarket (R20,000),  National Arts Council (R15,000), Mermaid Imports (R15,000), Kestrel Trading Limited (R10,000), Gayathri Enterprises (R10,000), Casa Dani Hotel (R10,000), Public Security Support Wing (R10,000), Belairy Insurance Broker (R10,000), Ibrahim Surman Store (R10,000), Stephens family (R10,000), J & B Supplies (R6,000), Seychelles Regular Police (R5,000), V.T Ramesh Pillay (R5,000), Murugesan Store (R5,000), RRR’s Services (R5,000), Ed’s Electrical Lighting (R5,000), Trust Security Protection Agency (R3,000), Sri Thillai Trading (R3,000), Telly’s Agency (R2,000), Thomas and Maria Meriton (R1,100), CMB staff (R1,000), DB Supplies (R1,000), Zechariah Lafortune (R1,000), Laurent Pon-Waye (R400), Elodie Lanior (US $2,000).

The fundraising committee also received a total R248,000 in kind from Marine Charter Association (R200,000 for the Honda City car which is the first prize to be won in the lottery), Printec Press Holdings (R33,000) and Rocky Laurence and family (R15,000).

Bravo Restaurant is sponsoring a dinner worth R1,000 for each gold medallist, who will also receive a custom-made perfume sponsored by Bonjour Seychelles. Prestige Evasion has sponsored a batch of First Aid kits.

Mr Meriton said as the Games near, the generosity and spirit of patriotism of the Seychellois people will help the fundraising committee reach the set target of R42 million.

Meanwhile, tickets for the Games’ lottery are on sale at various retail locations across the country at R25.
The draw will be made on August 14, during the Games’ closing ceremony.
