Airtel quarterly financial growth heralds “exciting year of transformation” |08 August 2011
The company has announced its audited results and said the revenues showed an upwards trend, with an overall customer base standing at 230.8 million, across 19 countries.
Total revenues recorded were at $3,796 million, up by 38.6% and revenues for the African region, which includes Seychelles, were at $979 million, up by 6% from the fourth quarter, with the results compared with the same time in previous years.
In a statement, Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman & managing director, Bharti Airtel Limited, said the results are very positive and encouraging.
“Bharti Airtel has started this fiscal year on a stable note. Revenue growth has been steady across all geographies, with Africa recording a healthy sequential growth of approximately 6%, and annual growth of 21%,” he said.
“In India, the company’s efforts in the area of cost efficiencies have helped arrest the margin decline. The new customer facing organisation in India will see more agile and responsive teams in action. This will also give a fillip to growth in value added services, broadband, digital TV and Airtel money. Overall, 2011-12 promises to be an exciting year of transformation.”
The local Airtel branch has been at the forefront of telecommunications services since it officially opened its doors in Seychelles in December 1998.
Airtel Seychelles was also the first telecom firm to introduce 3G network in Seychelles, as well as a number of other innovative and popular products for clients, such as chat, CRBT Caller Ring Back tones – known as Alo Tunes, USB internet dongles, sms packs.
