Who says students are ungrateful? |06 November 2013
In a world where students are branded as “ungrateful”, on Sunday November 3, the retired teachers and a few long standing present and past staff of Anse Boileau school witnessed the opposite.
As a tribute to teachers, the ‘Teacher recognition award committee of Anse Boileau’, a group of past students, took the initiative to give due recognition as well as to showcase their gratitude for all the dedication that teachers have rendered to the society, which they were all proud to be part of.
It was evident a mammoth effort and time had been put together on Sunday where the teachers were invited to a mega lunch and a presentation of an attractive souvenir engraved with the never forgetting icon of Anse Boileau school, none other than Brother Paul. It was a moment of hilarious reminiscence when a video of old times was displayed and some teaching tactics of yonder days were recounted.
Among others, those present were Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Andre Pool, Anse Boileau MNA Bernard Arnephy, who as a past student recollected his days as a student, Anse Boileau district administrator Valcy Naiken, and Father Gustave Lafortune, who incidentally celebrated his birthday not only by cutting a huge cake but also entertaining the audience with his unfailing singing.
Such commendable initiative should be used as a candle to enlighten other students to gratify the devotion of our teachers.
On behalf of all the invited teachers, we say a BIG THANK YOU to all involved in giving us an unforgettable memory.
We hope you have been able to inspire the coming generation to realise the noble task of a teacher in their lives.
